Siskiyou County
Tule Lake
Wildlife Refuge
The Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1928. It covers 39,116 acres of mostly open water and croplands. This is the heart of the Walking Wetlands where cultivation coexists side by side with wildlife protection. Water from the Klamath drainage makes it all possible - inluding the wealth of insects, which are an important draw for a lot of the birds.
