John M. "Mels" Grigsby settled here in 1855 and built the central section of the ranch house. In 1866 the land was flooded due to the damming of nearby Cache Creek by the Water Company. Grigsby sold the property to the Water Company in 1870 after unsuccessfully suing for damages. Today it is a California State Park. |
