The Petrified Forest |

| Sonoma County's Petrified Forest was first discovered in 1870 by a gentleman known locally as "Petrified Charlie." Ten years after the discovery Robert Louis Stevenson visited the forest and met with Charlie. A short time later, the meeting was imortalized in Stevenson's book entitled "The Silverado Squatters." This plaque memorializes that meeting and the efforts of many to preserve this unique forest. | ||||
