Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park
The Petaluma Adobe served as the headquarters for General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo's 66,000 acre ranch from 1836 to 1846.
(See Vallejo Bio Notes)
During this period Vallejo's ranch was the social and economic center of the Frontera del Norte - the Mexican provicial frontier of the north. As such it represented the northernmost permanent expansion of the Mexican state.
