On June 11, 1797 Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen founded Mission San Jose. It was the fourteenth mission established in California and was an integral part of the Spanish Crown's colonization of California. The mission is located on the former site of the Ohlone Indian village of Oroysom in today's Fremont, California. |
