Today the farms are gone and the Anchor Bay area is primarily residential with some tourist facilities mixed in. The community is home to a number of very creative people including a mix of artists and craftspeople that show their work in various galleries in the general area. Anchor Bay boasts a tiny commercial center with an excellent grocery store, two restaurants, a coffee house and offices for several other businesses. There are several excellent inns nearby as well as a campground and several other restaurants. The coastline is beautiful, but difficult to get to unless you are a guest in one of the lodging facilities that have access.
