In one of the most remarkable environmental victories of our time, the citizens of this area, cooperating with the federal and state governments, several foundations, and their own dynamic energy and good sense, recently assembled the millionsof dollars necessary to buy the watershed of Big River just south of town. This huge landholding will become a state park and will preserve for the world the glorious natural wonders of Big River.
Make a special effort to canoe or kayak upriver (watch the tides and winds) to gain a wonderful experience of this true natural wonderland of the Wild Coast. You'll never forget it.
