Patton Museum, Chiraco Summit

There are several memorials to General George S. Patton around the country. One is located at Chiraco Summit on Interstate 10, about thirty miles east of Indio, California. During World War II, this location was the entrance to Camp Young. Camp Young was an important part of the Desert Training Center, which General Patton established to prepare for the armored battles to come in Africa and Europe. Over one million men went through training here. The small museum houses memorabilia of the period and a collection of tanks is displayed outside.
