The Ghost Town Museum is flat out one of the very best museums of early Americana that I have ever seen. Museums display their treasures in a number of different styles. The old musty glass cases in the county museum remind one of Grandma's attic while the bright shiny plastic diaramas with push buttons in the university culture center reek of government subsidies. The Ghost Town Museum is of the old junk yard school of thought. Objects are strewn about in seeming disorder, grass grows up between the boards, chickens scratch in the dust, and the breeze blows through the broken windows. It is a wonderful place where one can spend hours discovering anew old things from a time now past. It is a museum to which people return because you can not take it all in on just one visit.
