James S. Douglas purchased and developed the Little Daisy Mine in 1912. The Little Daisy was one of the two largest and most profitable mines in Jerome. In 1916 "Rawhide Jimmy" built a mansion to house his family and to entertain mine officials and other important visitors. Constructed entirely of adobe bricks, it boasted all of the modern conveniences including a wine cellar, billiard room, marble shower, steam heat and a central vacuuming system. Today it is a State Museum housing a collection of exhibits relating to Jerome and its mining past.
