Fred Harvey worked with the railroads to stimulate tourism to Western Parks including the Grand Canyon. Mary Colter, an architect working for the Fred Harvey Company in the early twentieth century, designed many of the historic buildings in the Grand Canyon including Bright Angel Lodge, Hopi House, and The Watch Tower. Harvey House Inns and Restaurants were located throughout the west and were staffed by "Harvey Girls" famous for providing excellent service. Bright Angel Lodge in the Grand Canyon was operated in the style of a Harvey House and was staffed by Harvey Girls.
