Fairbank - Ghost Town |
|||
In 1881 N.K. Fairbank of Chicago financed the construction of a railroad in Southern Arizona. Connecting with Tombstone it established a depot on the San Pedro River. First known as Junction City it was officially named Fairbank in 1883. In 1901 the Boquillas Land and Cattle Company purchased the land under the town and evicted most of the residents. Today the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is stabilizing the remaining buildings and a visitor center is located in the 1920 era school house. |
