Chiricahua National Monument - Stafford Cabin

Ja Hu Stafford and his wife, Pauline, built this cabin in 1880 while Geronimo was active in the area. When the Chiricahua Apaches were exiled Big Foot Massai escaped, stole a horse from the Stafford homestead and disappeared into the Chiricahua Mountains, never to be seen again. The Stafford Cabin was incorporated into Far Away Ranch in 1918 and used to house guests.
